Pimville family demands answers for their son’s strange death

The 18-year-old who was also a Grade 11 learner at Emshukantambo Secondary School was allegedly found dead by patrollers at Bester Park in Pimville, Zone 5 on June 18.

Following the very sudden and uncertain death of their child, the family of Siyanda Simelane (18) is looking for answers from the Kliptown SAPS and this is so they can have peace and find closure.

The 18-year-old who was also a Grade 11 learner at Emshukantambo Secondary School was allegedly found dead by patrollers at Bester Park in Pimville, Zone 5 on June 18.

The patrollers then contacted the Kliptown SAPS and the family states that it was around 11:00 am when they were visited by the police to inform them about their child’s death.

The family said they last saw their son alive on Tuesday, June 17. After almost a whole day of not seeing Siyanda, the family thought he would be back the following day.

This is because he normally did when he would not sleep at home. This was then the reason why they did not try to look for him.

Grandparents of Siyanda, Sarah and Bheki Simelane commented on what they wish to see happen, “We want his friends to come out and say what happened to our son because they were with him before his death.

“We will really find peace after knowing what happened to him.”

The family and mostly Siyanda’s mother, Nonhlanhla Simelane wishes for the police to investigate her son’s death just so she can have closure.

“I really wish for the police to do something about my son’s case just so we can have closure and rest knowing what happened.

“It’s really sad that I immediately had a dream about him trying to tell me something on the day of the funeral.

“Even our family in Limpopo has dreams about him trying to say something, so we feel that the police are failing us and investigations need to be done,” said Nonhlanhla.

The family claims that when they take new information about their son’s death to the Kliptown SAPS, they are often ignored mostly by the assigned investigating officer, Sergeant Ngwenya.

The officer allegedly responds by saying they should tell the people giving them information to come to the police station.

Speaking to Urban News in response to these allegations, Police Spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Mavela Masondo said, “A case of murder has been opened at Kliptown Police Station and an investigation is underway.

The police did not want to bother the family as they were still mourning and preparing for the funeral. However, there were some contacts with the family; hence they know their investigating officer.

“Police are still appealing to anyone who might have information that can help with the investigation to please contact their nearest police station.”
