2013 top achieving matriculants speak out

2013 top achievers give tips to class of 2014.

With Gauteng schools achieving an 87 percent matric pass rate for 2013, the pupils who did well have come out to give tips to 2014 matriculants.

Thulisile Ntshingila said writing her final exam was challenging but through great preparation she made it.

“There is nothing that can beat and win over a prepared person, though it was really challenging for me to sit for my final, I was nervous and excited at the same time, but I never lost my focus which was to pass at the end of the day.

“Now since I’ve passed, I’m going to register and pursue a career in electrical engineering.”

Hlongwane Siphesihle who achieved five distinctions said: “I would advise other pupils to always surround themselves with people who value education and who understand that there is no life without better education.

“Pupils must also always attends reading cycles at libraries, attend extra classes, morning and afternoon and always seek assistance from family, friends and teachers and most importantly, they must read.”

Another pupil Thato Masuku who achieved a bachelor’s pass said: “Young people must never confuse education with alcohol and parties, lots of great futures have been lost in parties where young people convince themselves that they are having fun.

“I say education must always come first before fun, siting and being in matric is a greatest chance that every person needs and wish to accomplish, the least pupils can do this year is to stay focus and pay no attention to social issues affecting them.”
