Phafogang matrics perform brilliantly

Last year, the school produced 26 distinctions and 42 bachelors and the school's two top pupils achieved five distinctions each.

Jabavu based Phafogang Senior Secondary School has done it again last year by achieving 90% in its year end matric results.

Last year, the school produced 26 distinctions and 42 bachelors and the school’s two top pupils achieved five distinctions each.

The school’s Tuska Matlejoane said he is the happiest man in the universe.

“It so motivating and inspiring to see a school with no extra resources to help improve education of pupils doing so well with the year ends results.

“It was not easy for teachers to give quality education, but due to their dedication to the pupil’s future they worked extra hard and outsourced their own resources and strategies to make sure that pupils get better education that will help them with their future.”

The school’s head of department (HOD) for commerce Mike Kutoane said the 2013 results will motivate his colleaques.

“We worked a s a team of teachers, parents and the school governing body (SGB) to share ideas and strategies and that has worked wonders for the school.

“The only challenge that we have now is of parents who still don’t have faith in local schools who still prefers suburb schools rather than townships one, so now we have performed better than other model c schools and this shows that there are still great schools in the townships.”

Tracing the pass rate history of the school from the year 2010, the school has been performing well.

“In 2010 we achieved 28.7 % pass rate, then 2011 64%, 2012 84.2 percent and 2013 is 90 percent, our track records speaks for itself and we not going to stop here.

“Even this year we will break our previous year’s records and I’m sure of that,” said Matlejoane.
