SPARK School donates equipment and stationery to day care centre in Protea

The initiative took place on May 21 as part of the many was the school celebrates its core value which is Ubuntu.

After being named World’s best school for Community Collaboration, SPARK School in Soweto headed to Run’n Learn Day Care Centre in Protea to hand over chairs, tables, books, educational toys and blankets.

“In November 2023, SPARK School Soweto was named T4 Education’s world’s best school in the Community Collaboration category.

“The school was selected because it became a catalyst for change in its disadvantaged community which was once symbolic of the struggles against apartheid and because of its ongoing commitment to serving the community of Soweto,” said Nyambeni Nthambeleni, the Principal of SPARK.

“Today we were undertaking a visit to our favourite local collaboration place which is Run’n Learn Day Care Center.

“It is a kindergarten which caters for children between the ages three to six years where most of the children end up transitioning to our school.

“Our relation stems from collaborating with communities which we took it to task that we should do so as the school.

“They were the first partners that we took and engage with to give back to the community.

“It is really important that private institutions partner up with public institutions and the community at large, to give resources because we have more than they do.”

Teachers, children and the principal of the day care were happy to have once more worked with SPARK School.

“We are very happy once more to have worked with them, which is the fourth time. Our kids get much knowledge from them so that they get motivated and learn with others, making education fun.

“Personally, I am grateful to have a partner like Nyambeni to work with in making sure that the future of our children is paved and everything is made simple,” said Thabisile Nkatha, Principal of Run’n Learn Day Care.
