Vehicles and firearms recovered by police

Rapid Response services held operations that led to 106 arrests for various crimes like assault, rape, attempted murder and trespassing.

Rapid Response Services comprising of the flying Squad, K9 units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 106 suspects and recovered 37 motor vehicles and 12 firearms between January 26 and February 1.

Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng.

These operations led to 48 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, common robbery, trespassing, possession of illicit cigarettes, rape, attempted murder, theft, bribery, fraud, contempt of court and illegal immigrants.

Fourteen arrests were made for possession of firearms.

In further policing, 35 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs. Heroine, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in separate incidents.

Investigations continue.

The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate courts across Gauteng.
