Local senior citizens express gratitude for support

Management at the Nancefield Retirement Village would like to thank all their sponsors and stakeholders for their support in making sure that the elderly are well taken care of throughout the year.

The retirement village is a facility where the elderly can still care for themselves but they still need all the support they can get.

The management of the village has teamed up with various stakeholders to make sure that pension day runs as smooth as possible for the grannies.

The Eldos Taxi Association has come on board to assist with transport to take them to their pay point which is Shoprite.

That is where they have also been designated a special till to help them avoid long queues when collecting their pension money.

Sylvia Zacharias from the Nancefield Retirement Village said the help they have been getting from the Eldos Taxi Association and Shoprite has made life even more bearable for the elderly.

“To Shoprite Eldorado Park for their love and concern towards the villagers, from the manager, the cashiers, the packers and all of the staff, thank you so much for helping us,” said Zacharias.

“Also thank you to Mr Doll and the entire executive of the Eldos Taxi Association for arranging a free taxi to take us to Shoprite and allowing us to do our shopping for two hours before dropping us back at the village.

“We would also like to thank Michael, the driver for his patience with the villagers.”

The villagers don’t get support only on pension day but every day they are assisted by various stakeholders with food and other essentials.

Al-Ameen Feeding Scheme by Armien Margrow and his team are always happy to help with feeding the villagers from Monday to Thursday every week with bread rolls.

Zacharias said she thanks them all for making sure that the villagers are always fed and well taken care of.

She went on to mention Agnes Motaung and her team from Globescope Security at Shoprite for managing the queue, the managers, Zodwa Nlapo, Wiseman Mvelase and Bhelukasi.

“Also thank you to the Church Of The Nazarene Eldorado Park and Rev Anthony and Rev Olga for their love and kindness towards us, they also donate groceries.

“The Ebenezer Church in Kliptown also came on board to bless us with bread.

“The Catholic Church donated blankets and a bucket with groceries, the bikers’ club from Lenasia also came with some groceries and we also thank all the anonymous sponsors as well to God,” concluded Zacharias.
