Thabisong Youth Club agrees to submit proposal

Without a doubt, the representatives of the Thabisong Youth Club have agreed to draft and submit the request.

On November 19, the Thabisong Youth Club representatives along with the members of the Southern Synod engaged on a peaceful meeting regarding the misunderstanding over property at Emdeni.

During the meeting, the youth club representative, Bheki Mvula stated that the space where members of the Thabisong Youth Club conducted their artistic endeavours was destroyed and vandalised during the COVID-19 lockdown.

That led to the club not being reopened after the lockdown because organisation officials were still seeking funding to assist with reconstructing the facility.

“While we were still looking for the funds so as to help reopen the club, we were surprised to discover that the property is being occupied by the churches without us as the community being informed.

“So today we have decided to request for this meeting in order to get an explanation regarding this place,” said Mvula.

Mvula added that many people in Emdeni and surrounding areas have benefited greatly from the work of Thabisong Youth Club. Over the course of its 40-years of existence, the club has developed a number of artists, actors, dancers, and athletes. Furthermore, the club’s mission was to continue developing the next generation of talent before its abrupt closure.

The administrator of Southern Synod, Solly Mabelane explained during the meeting that the construction of church in the stand will not affect the reopening of the youth club in anyway.

The club must present a proposal that will help show the Synod that it will bring back to the community in the most positive manner.

“The church is willing to give back to the community but for the Synod to provide a space for the club, we will appreciate a proposal that will be presented to the Synod executives, in that way this issue will be more solid and move forward,” said Mabelane.

Without a doubt, the representatives of the Thabisong Youth Club have agreed to draft and submit the proposal.
