Dorcas Women in Action celebrated their 10 year Anniversary through song and worship.

Dorcas Women in Action (DWA) celebrated their 10 Anniversary last Thursday at Orlando Communal Hall in Orlando East.

Dorcas Women in Action is a collective of women from over sixty different church congregation, who have come together to make a difference in their community.

The organisation meets twice a month to do community work by identifying poor households and assisting in where they can.

“The past ten years have been great I did not anticipate Dorcas Women in Action to grow so much.

“When we stared we only had five branches now we have over 60 branches in Soweto.

“This proves that women can make a big difference in their community if they come together.

“We all praise the same God so why can’t we work together,” said Secretary of DWA Anna Zwakala.

The organisation celebrated their milestone through worship and praise as more than 800 members of Dorcas Women in Action sang and danced in worship.

Over the past ten years Dorcas Women in Action has made a difference in the community by handing out food parcels to needy households and hospices.

They also do work with young people by inspiring them to be positive and to and stay focused.

Zwakala said that she hopes that DWA will grow to bigger heights in the years to come.

“We want to do more work in our communities, we want to uplift out people. Christians should not just preach the word of God they should also practice the word of God by helping those in need,’ she said.

Nomvula Nhlapo a member of DWA said that she is delighted that Dorcas Women in Action is celebrating their 10 year Anniversary.

She said that she hopes that the organisation will keep on doing Godly work for many more years to come.

“We also urge businesspeople to come on board and assist us with funding as we need all the help we can get,” she said.
