'We need to go back to Ubuntu'

Premier of Gauteng Nomvula Mokonyane told the Dorcas Women in Action that they should go back to the old ways of Ubuntu.

Premier of Johannesburg Nomvula Mokonyane shared in the 10 year Anniversary celebrations of Dorcus Women in Action last Thursday at Orlando Communal Hall in Orlando East.

Mokonyane praised and worshiped along with the women of Dorcus Women in Action.

She congratulated the women for the work that they are doing in the community, and encouraged them to keep on doing what they are doing.

Mokonyane also thanked the women for their prayers throughout the years.

She also spoke about how people have lost their morals and that the church needs to be involved in the reinstating of morals.

“Getting our democracy does not mean that people need to lose their morals. We need to go back to Ubuntu,” she said.

She also spoke about 16 Days of Activism and urged the women not to ever settle for a man who abuses her and her children just because she fears not having a roof over her head and food.

“Our government gives a monthly child grant and food parcels, why should you stay with a man who sexually abuses your children. They are other options don’t subject yourselves and your children to abuse,” she said.

She also told the women to love each other, reminding them that through love God is celebrated and praised.
