Local darts players excel in trials

A number of members made the National, District, Gauteng and Gauteng Masters teams.

The darts trials are done and dusted.

The Ekurhuleni South Darts Association (ESDA) had a good run, with its members achieving placements in various teams.

Several members made the nationals team, district team, Gauteng team and Gauteng masters team.

Thea Joubert (captain), Jen Bennett, Delian Bennett (manager), Maryna Badenhorst, Sally Joy and Moira Cronje.

The ESDA nationals team will also represent the association at the Darts South Africa (DSA) nationals from July 9 to 14 at the Wild Coast Sun Resort, Eastern Cape.

The following members made the Ekurhuleni District team and will represent Ekurhuleni District Darts at the nationals.

The ladies are:

District ladies team: Moira Cronje and Jen Bennett (reserve).

District men’s team: Hugo Deysel (captain), Wayne Ellis, Jason Crook, Tinashe Chipoyera and Vaughn Smith.

The ESDA members who made the Ekurhuleni District team and will represent the district at the upcoming national are Maryna Badenhorst, Cronje, Bennett (reserve), Deysel (captain), Ellis, Chipoyera, Crook and Smith (reserve).

Two district members obtained their Gauteng colours and will be part of the Gauteng Darts Federation’s provincial team to represent Gauteng at the nationals.

They are Deysel, the Gauteng men’s team, and Nakita de Lange, the Gauteng juniors team.

On the trials for the Gauteng masters team to represent Gauteng at the nationals, only one member obtained her master’s provincial colours – Badenhorst. She is also the Gauteng Masters ladies team captain.

The team will represent Gauteng at next month’s nationals in KZN.

This is the fourth consecutive year that Badenhorst has made the masters team.
