The suspects were immediately placed under arrest for possession of stolen motor vehicle, possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and business robbery, and then detained at Dobsonville SAPS awaiting a court appearance while the vehicle was booked at Lenasia for further investigation.

An unlicensed firearm and ammunition was seized during the arrest.

The members from the Unit received information about four suspects terrorising local businesses, and the anti-hijack unit followed the information until they saw a vehicle matching the description. They pulled it over and requested to search the vehicle.

“While conducting the search, one firearm with three ammunition was found in their position and could not produce a license to possess the firearm.

“The team went on to test the vehicle they were driving, and it came out as a stolen motor vehicle,” said Constable Vusi Thokwan, in a statement.

Thokwan stated that investigations were underway, to link the perpetrators to other robberies around the area. Dobsonville acting station commander is pleased with the swift movement by the members to bring the suspects to justice.
