JMPD nabs four suspects in Protea Glen

The arrest comes after officers received Intel on April 11 about a crew terrorizing the community of Protea Glen.

The JMPD IIOC Undercover Reaction Unit apprehends four male suspects aged between 38 and 43 believed to be linked to various crimes in Protea Glen.

The suspects were found in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

The arrest comes after officers received Intel on April 11 about a crew terrorizing the community of Protea Glen with firearms.

According to a report by Xolani Fihla, Spokesperson for the JMPD, during their patrol in the area, the operational team spotted the suspects who were travelling in a bronze Toyota Fortuner on Marula and Blue Crane Street.

Two unlicensed firearms and ammunition founded in possession of the arrested suspects.

“The officers endeavoured to stop the vehicle, but the suspects drove off in an attempt to flee. A chase ensured and the officers managed to intercept the vehicle and apprehend the suspects,” he explained.

Fihla said when the group was searched; the police discovered two unlicensed firearms and ammunition in their possession and were arrested and detained at the Protea Glen Police Station.

“The suspects were detained at the Protea Glen SAPS where a case docket was registered for further investigation.

“The vehicle used in the commission of the crime was seized and booked in at the SAPS Lenasia pound for verification.”
