With a version of preserving their famous African cuisine, Kota will be the centre of the event; however attendees will be graced with an entertainment experience which includes family activities as well as for children.

The Kota festival provides a platform for aspiring chefs as well as outlets around the country to showcase their wonderful offerings.

Since the event is held at the heart of Johannesburg, they also aim to attract students from Wits, University of Johannesburg, Rosebank College, and other higher institutions of learning around Braamfontein.

“This year the event will be bigger and better as we have added activities mainly for kids. We also added a separate stage, lights and sound for their entertainment.

“We have a new magic theatre which will be charged at a fee per session. Parents who want to enjoy the show will have an opportunity to do so without worrying about their little ones since we will have child minders in the kid’s section.

“We are also happy to announce that we have opened more space to build a bigger stage and lawn area for picnic vibes,” said Johannesburg Kota Festival director, Xolani Machele.

He added that this year they are expecting more kota lovers than at the previous event and that this year’s event has directly and indirectly created over 200 jobs with an effort to help the government curb the rate of unemployment in the country.-

“This year our attendees can expect to have more entertainment on the main stage, and as always, our line-up remains a surprise to our patrons until the day of the event.

“We are excited and eagerly looking forward to the day as this will be the biggest Kota festival instalment in the country alongside our kota outlets.

“We are ready to serve our patrons fresh kotas that feature the usual tried and trusted fillings from the trusted brands.”

Various sponsors and brands joined in the event, including Escort which has over 106 years of experience in the food industry.

Other partners include Coca Cola, Eno, African Bank, Johannesburg House Company, and Computicket, to name a few.

“Our track record shows that we have always been passionate about bringing people together through food and good music. We are looking forward to working with and exposing South African businesses in the event.”
