The community of Molapo gathered together yet again to oppose the bail application of the suspects who are accused of killing Lesedi Khoza who was stabbed seven times last year.

Thobile Maoba, a friend of the Khoza family said, “I’m very impressed with the investigating officers. I think today was a turnaround point, we managed to go out with a little victory and consolation for Lesedi’s mother because the two suspects were not granted bail.”

It is not every day that the community of Soweto leaves the court rooms with feelings of hope and victory.

The denial of bail for the two suspects has restored hope in the justice system for the angry community.

Maoba said, “For us, as little as it is, it is victory. It’s also a relief because in most cases we believed that the justice system is always failing us.”

“My greatest fear was how was Lesedi’s mother going cope if today turned out differently.

“She is still in a very critically emotional state and experiences break downs. She is not ready to see these people roaming in the streets,” she continued.

The community promised to continue supporting Lesedi’s mother until justice is fully served and their community’s safety is no longer compromised. The two suspects remain in custody and will appear again in court on March 06.
