Over 300 suspects arrested in Dobsonville Policing prescient in November

Crime statistics reveal continued safety concerns in Soweto, as SAPS Dobsonville announces arrest of 310 suspects arrested in November for various crime including domestic violence and rape.

The Dobsonville South African Police Service (SAPS) has released its monthly crime statistics for November, which revealed that three hundred and ten suspects were arrested in Dobsonville during the month of November.

Dobsonville SAPS had recorded the number of arrests in the last month for various crimes around the Dobsonville policing precinct which comprises Bramfischerville, Mofolo North and the greater Dobsonville.

The latest statistics painted a bleak picture of the increased criminality in the township.

The Police service said the arrested people are facing various charges which includes Domestic violence, illegal immigrants, Rape, Attempted murder, Drunk and Driving, possession of stolen motor vehicle, Dealing in drugs  selling of liquor without a permit and other crimes.

Communications officer, Constable Vusi Thokwan explains, “The arrests came as a result of commitment by members at the station through crime prevention, sector policing, Detectives, and collaboration between enforcement agencies such as the JMPD, Gauteng Traffic department and other SAPS departments.”

He further added that some of the arrested suspects were released on station bail, some at court and others were convicted of the crimes they committed.
