Okae Malao yields results in fight against crime across Diepkloof

The list of arrests also consisted of 27 undocumented pople who were arrested for failure to produce documentation permitting their stay in the country and a further two arrests for drug possession.

Diepkloof Saps had its crime operation, Okae Molao on Thursday morning across Zones 1- 6 to root out crime.

The operation was done jointly with Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD), Gauteng Traffic Department, Correctional Services, Department of Home Affairs and the South African Police Service (SAPS).

The operation began with a roadblock and high crime hotspots searching of drugs and arresting undocumented people.

Furtherly, the department of Correctional Services was arresting parolees who absconded from their parole conditions.

According to SAPS, over 300 people were stopped and searched and a further 200 cars searched. JMPD also issued nine fines of the value of R5280.

Other successes from the operation included the confiscations of two vehicles which were taken in for enquiry and two arrested for Assault Gbh and Common.

SAPS spokesperson for Diepkloof, Captain Phephi Matlou, said the police were thrilled with the success of the operation.

“We wish to affirm our position as the law enforcement that we will continue to clamp down on criminals and non-complying individuals on the roads and in our township.

“We send out a strong message that no one is above the crime,” she said.
