Gauteng man arrested for fraudulent certificates

They include forged identity documents, eviction letters and affidavits, school reports, qualifications, salary receipts, and police stamps.

A 40-year-old internet café proprietor from Ivory Park has been detained on fraud-related charges for allegedly generating phoney diplomas, school records and asylum documents.

Captain Ben Matimulane, an Ivory Park SAPS communications officer, said the suspect operates an internet café from which he conducts his business.

“He fabricated documents, including forged identity documents, eviction letters and affidavits, school reports, qualifications, salary receipts, and police stamps,” said Matimulane.

“He was detained after a vigilant community member noticed what appeared to be a false piece of paper being used by a woman at a nearby clinic.

“After the police received this tip-off, their inquiries into this piece of paper led them to the culprit.”
