High-end bakkies targeted by criminals in Gauteng

Residents are warned about a new modus operandi used by criminals to target bakkies.

She said high-end bakkies like the Toyota Hilux Legend 45 model are being targeted by criminals.

Residents must be aware of the following safety tips to protect themselves from falling victim to criminal acts:

• Do not park your car outside your gate.

• Do not leave your personal belongings inside your car, as it will attract the thief’s attention.

• Double-check by hand if your vehicle is properly locked before leaving it, especially at malls or public spaces.

• If you suspect there is a suspicious car following you, make at least two rounds around the block before entering your house because they will follow you right to your driveway.

• When driving home late, ask someone to wait for you by your gate.
