The multipurpose facility which includes netball and tennis court, basketball and five-a-side soccer pitch will go towards producing and harnessing the next sport stars across different sporting disciplines in the Orlando and nearby communities.

David Rachidi, Betway Marketing Manager said it was exciting to see the project reach its final stages citing that it would bring much needed change to the community.

“We are excited to be in Orlando as we launch our Betway multipurpose facility.

“A very exciting project that has been running in full plan for the whole of 2022 and today marks a momentous day for this community and the young people that are going to benefit from these new facilities,” he said.

“This facility is exciting because it will ensure that sports is celebrated in different disciplines and we are looking at unearthing some new talent, not only here in Soweto Orlando but nationally through different sporting codes,” he explained.

Stadium Management CEO, Bertie Grobbelaar said the partnership was a good investment in the community.

The company spearheading various stadiums in the country, will be responsible for the maintenance and up keeping of the facility.

“We saw this as an opportunity to add value to the communities which we serve as stadium management. If you drove past here previously, it was not a facility to be used and hopefully this will be phase 1,” he said.

“I am looking at that pitch behind us and hopefully in the next year or two we will have a proper pitch, a clubhouse facility with an administration block and change rooms.”

The elated CEO further added that they were hoping to continue ploughing back into the various community projects they will be partaking in.

Former Netball star and new Betway ambassador, Simnikiwe Mdaka who was joined by the legendary Lucas Radabe and Simphiwe Dludlu said the facility was a fantastic move in ensuring that other sporting codes such as netball are considered and given a platform to thrive.

“This is a fantastic initiative and really timeless in terms of what communities need.

“I am blown at the multiple sports disciplines, and I think it’s important that netball is also integrated into such initiatives because many communities only focus on football, but such a facility makes community involvement broader which I love.

“Historically, one of the challenges we have had is accessibility and Betway has managed to bring this world class facility right in our homes to make sure that our people have access to it, and that on its own is fantastic,” Mdaka said.
