A baby girl was found abandoned at Thokoza Park, on Tuesday morning.
According to Moroka police the infant is healthy and was found wrapped in a blanket, with no food, clothes or a letter.
Moroka Communications Officer, Constable John Serala said they assume that the baby is about a week old as she still has an umbilical cord.
“If the community knows of any person who has just given birth but they have no child with them, they should please report the matter.
“Should parents be found guilty, they will be charged with concealment of birth.
“The baby has been taken to a place of safety at the Johannesburg Child Welfare and a case of child abandonment has been open,” Serala said.
Anyone who can assist in the case can use case number 642/03/2014 as reference number.
