No time to rest for pupils – education MEC

MEC for education Barbara Creecy said pupils must never take a break from their education, but rather get involved in study groups.

With local schools closing on March 28, MEC for Education Barbara Creecy encourages pupils to never lose focus on their books.

Creecy said for pupils there is no time to rest or ignore their books.

“We expect pupils in all grades to befriend their books and always attend extra classes and reading seminars in their schools and areas and libraries.

“For them there is no break at all, they must be glued to their books and other study materials at all days because that’s the only option they have to improve their school marks so they can have a greater future.”

Creecy said: “Pupils are also advised to visit education department website for extra materials for their studies and see also programmes that will help them with their studies.

“They (pupils) must also seek assistance from parents, brothers and uncles at home and also come up with their holiday study plan at home except the one at libraries and n their groups.”

Grade 12pupil Maria Motholo said: “I’ve already made arrangements with my friends for a group study and my family has also agreed to help me daily with extra lessons.

“I would really encourage and advice other pupils to also form study groups and reading cycles because they are very much helpful because we get the opportunity, to learn, teach and share lessons on different subjects.”
