Soweto business owner giving back even when business is not doing well

Koketso Mongale who owns a spa, Lathitha Spa based in Orlando is one of the young business owners who still fight to give back to the community.

Because of the global pandemic, some businesses were forced to close down and some are still struggling to get back on their feet. However, through all the hardships in the industry, some local business owners are still able to give back to the community with the little they have. Koketso Mongale who owns a spa, Lathitha Spa based in Orlando is one of the young business owners who still fight to give back to the community.

“It was hard for me but I needed to understand that everyone was affected by the global pandemic and for some it was so bad they can’t event afford to buy the basics, that must be so stressful, so, a young person who is basically a stress reliever, I needed to do something,” said Mongale.

“During the early stages of the pandemic, when everyone was confused and panicking, I pampered two care givers at the Orlando Children’s home, this was my way of showing love to these two women who have dedicated their life to taking care of orphans,” said Mongale

In celebration of women’s month, Mongale also selected 14 women to pamper from a society called, Helping Hand in Mzimhlophe, it consists of teachers from a local day care centre, Ilungelo Lakho.

Not that she did not suffer like many other businesses, she did and at some point, she had to temporarily shut down her business.

“I became so much discouraged because I offer services that needs close contact, there was no way my business could have survived the pandemic so I had to close down. However, the idea of having a mobile spa saved my business, it is still not easy but we move,” Mongale concluded.
