Thaba Jabula learners benefit from Kasi Hero and Kliptown SAPS team up

The Kasi Hero foundation teamed up with the Kliptown SAPS to donate 100 pairs of school shoes and sanitary towels to learners at Thaba Jabula Secondary.

The Kasi Hero foundation teamed up with the Kliptown SAPS to donate 100 pairs of school shoes and sanitary towels to learners at Thaba Jabula Secondary.

The event was held at the school’s hall on Wednesday afternoon with the Kasi Hero team, Kliptown Police members and the station’s Community Police Forum all present.

“We saw it very important that for us to be a part of this project because kids should not be going to school without school shoes. We still appeal to companies and organisations around Soweto to also join us. We want to see learners feeling proud when they go to school,” said Kliptown SAPS’s Captain Hitler Ngwenya.

The learners chosen to benefit from this project had been identified as underprivileged and in need. Mboniseni Makharamedzha of the Kasi Hero Foundation said helping communities was in line with the foundation’s overall goal.

“Our goal is to see this foundation actually help the community and we try to grow every day in what we do – to give as much as we can. We know the challenges communities face. People are unemployed, parents lost their jobs. So it is special for us to be able to help,” he said.

The school shoe campaign is part of Kasi Hero’s mission to donate 500 pairs of school shoes to underprivileged learners around the Gauteng province. The school shoes were purchased through donations.

“One of our founders attended this school and that’s how we chose it. The campaign will continue and we hope to reach a minimum of four schools depending on how many shoes we manage to get. We want to take the opportunity and thank everyone who donated. We also want to thank the Kliptown SAPS and CPF for coming on board,” added Makharamedzha.

Kenneth Mphuma Principal of Thaba Jabula expressed gratitude for the donations.

“It is something that we appreciate, to see organisations work to gather to support the youth and supporting us as a school. We are grateful,” he said.
