Learners excel at Zola Higher Primary School Career Day

The event also saw the learners make presentations on the chosen career paths formulated from research they were required to conduct.

Zola Higher Primary School held a Career Day and gave learners the chance to learn more about various career fields while meeting industry professionals.

The event was held at the school on Thursday and featured presentations by learners from their own research on what possible careers they could pursue. It was organised by the school’s teacher, Rosa Maseko who said she felt that learners needed to get a sense of directions from an early age.

“We wanted to ensure that we lead learners and give them a lead of what they could pursue going forward. How do you go about choosing a career? Things like understanding their abilities and strengths so they could capitalise on them. We allowed them to dress up so that they really get into the mood and take their professions serious,” she said.

The event also saw the learners make presentations on the chosen career paths formulated from research they were required to conduct. Advocate Hlobsile Nxumalo who was one of the industry professionals at the event said she was impressed by the standard and effort learners put into their research. “I am very passionate about the youth and harnessing any skills we can see in any child.

Assisting them in growth. I have been sharing on social media and saying that my heart is completely custard today because of the dedication, the effort and the handwork these learners have done. This school has done so well in giving them this platform,” she said.

Maseko called on teachers and parents to work hand in hand. “Truly, I’m over the moon. I’m very proud of them. This shows that if we can pull together as parents and teachers to build our kids they can defiantly reach their full potential. An initiative like this gives them hope that anything is within reach and we are proud to have been a part of that,” concluded Maseko.
