Kiara Da Gama crowned as Miss Eldorado Park 2021

‘Heavy is the head that wears the crown’- Miss Eldorado Park 2021.

Kiara Da Gama from Eldorado Park Extension 2 was crowned Miss Eldorado Park 2021 and Miss Personality on June 12 at the Don Mateman Hall in Eldorado Park.

This was the first pageant that the twenty-two-year-old entered and shared that she always had a passion for modelling but I never really pursued it until this year.

“The title means a lot to me. I still don’t believe that I am Miss Eldorado Park but I am glad because I get to make a change in my community. This platform gives me access to more people who can help me make a difference in my community,” said da Gama.

The newly crowned Miss Eldorado Park shared that she would like to start changing the mindset of the community and help the youth who are dealing with mental health issues such as depression.

Da Gama added: “All eyes are on us now, what we do and how we carry ourselves is important. I do not drink alcohol or smoke so at least I am already setting an example. I now need to be mindful of what I say and do even on social media.” “They say ‘heavy is the head that wears the crown’ and I already feel the weight of it because I would like to make positive changes in our community.”

The reigning Miss Eldorado Park said that she would like to encourage people to be a better version of themselves and that they should not allow their past to hold them back. She shared that as long as you are moving forward in life you should be proud.

“I am currently doing my matric. I have noticed that if you do not have your matric in our community, they do not encourage you to go back and complete your matric, instead they make you feel like a failure.

“This is also why I entered the pageant, to show that even if you do not have your matric, you can go do it, regardless of your age. My father said that education requires maturity, and now that I am more mature, I realise that that is true.  I went back to school so that I can lead by example, I want other women to take charge of their lives.

“Young girls in our community think that when they have a child at a young age, their dreams must die, I want to encourage them to still pursue their dreams and for them to work towards being better women,” said da Gama.

Once she completes her matric she would like to study at the University of Johannesburg to become either an Information Technology (I.T) Specialist or a Meteorologist. In the near future Da Gama would like to enter Miss South Africa.
