Man(28) arrested for possession of stolen property and dealing with drugs in Eldorado Park

Upon entry gained at the address, the members discovered various vehicle parts, including certain parts of the vehicle that they had found completely stripped.

On Tuesday 1 June 2021, members of the SAPS Gauteng Highway Patrol Unit received a lookout for a Volkswagen vehicle, which coordinates led them to Eldorado Park precinct.

The members, upon arriving at the last updated coordinates, found the said vehicle completely stripped and was informed by the Tracker SA team who was also on the scene, that the victim was being held hostage and will only be released once a ransom was paid.

The determined SAPS members proceeded to follow up on information and lead which led the members to an address in Beril Street, Old Eldorado Park. Upon arrival at the address, the members found one male who refused to open or co-operate to the requests of the members, and thereafter the necessary force was used to gain entry.

Upon entry gained at the address, the members discovered various vehicle parts, including certain parts of the vehicle that they had found completely stripped. The vehicle parts found at the address included over five(05) engines, suspensions, gearboxes, vehicle seats, doors, boot lids, bonnets, display clusters, dashboards, radios, wheels and tyres, bumpers, computer boxes, lights, fenders, a steering wheel, and undercarriage, a steering rack as well as a shock and hub all estimated to be worth approximately seven hundred thousand rands (R700 000.00).

Upon searching the uncooperative male who was on the premises, the members found over forty(40) packets of Chrystal meth drugs, over twenty (20) packets of khat drugs, more than ten(10) mandrax tablets in possession of the suspect.

The 28-year-old male was then placed under arrest for possession of the stolen property and for dealing with drugs. The members proceeded to Eldorado Park SAPS where the suspect was detained for the allegations and charges against him. The exhibits were handed in for safekeeping that will be used for further investigation purposes. The 28year old suspect will appear in the respective court.

Due to the determination and swift response to the information received and follow-up thereof, the victim who had been held hostage was later released by the man stealers in the Moroka precinct.

Management of the Eldorado Park SAPS expressed their gratitude and pride in the members who went the extra mile, and for not leaving any stone unturned, thus saving a life and securing a major success. The members are applauded for flying the SAPS flag high, for their fight against crime, and their continued efforts made to ensure a crime-free Eldorado Park as well as for those who commit crimes to be brought to justice.
