‘All we want is an apology’

Sangweni’s killers make another appearance at the Protea Magistrate’s Court.

Two men accused of killing Jostina Sangweni appeared at Protea Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, May 4, 2021, for their bail application. The case was adjourned to May 11, because the lawyer for accused number two didn’t arrive on time thus delaying court proceedings.

The second accused was then advised to get a lawyer representative from Legal aid, to avoid further delays with the case.

Speaking to the media the family representative, Jabulani Moagi, who is also the son-in-law of the deceased mentioned that, as a family, they are looking forward to receiving an apology from the accused. “We somehow feel that if the accused apologise, we will find closure and be able to move forward.

“I see a lot of people saying so and so are innocent. If the accused are innocent, let them give us the guilty ones so that we can deal with the real perpetrators,” added Moagi.

The family of the deceased is still pleading with the community of Mapetla to help in arresting more suspects involved with the murder of Sangweni. “We believe that not all suspects in connection to this case have been arrested, however, we are grateful to the police for the arrests they have made,” he concluded.
