Goitsimang Eland dedicated in helping school girls

Pimville resident, Goitsimang Eland has launched a campaign to help school girls.

Pimville resident, Goitsimang Eland has launched a campaign to help school girls. Eland is the co-founder of Joy and Social Events. A Non-Profit Organisation (NPO) that is responsible for several community-building donation drives since 2019.

“Helping people has become a passion for me. That was the idea when we started Joy and Social Events. Wherever we see a need to help, we’ll organise and set up a donation for a place, or area it school that is in need,” she said.

The NPO has donated sanitary towels, roll-ons, shoes, clothes, and food to Chicken Farm, Progress Comprehensive High School, and PUSH center in Eldorado Park, amongst others.

“We know how hard people were hit by the pandemic, so, during the lockdown, we tried our best to help. We were able to donate food parcels in Chicken Farm to people who needed them. We wish we could have donated more but we struggled when lockdown restrictions got tighter,” she said.

Eland’s desire to help people stems from her pageantry days.

“It started when I got into pageantry some years back, we would be given the assignment of charity work that would help our communities. Soon, an assignment became a genuine love and since then I have always wanted to identify areas where I can help and improve someone’s life,” she said.

Eland’s campaign to help school girls will be done through collecting sanitary towels as part of the #LittleGirlArise initiative, to help keep the girl child at school and is calling on the community to join in by donating a pack of sanitary towels.

Eland has not abandoned her love for pageantry, the 24-year-old is a Semi-Finalist for Miss Township South Africa 2021 pageant. On top of that, she juggles the journey of motherhood.
“My child is a blessing to me. In terms of juggling it all, I would say that time management is key. If you plan everything accordingly you do not have to panic,” she advised.
