Integrated SAPS and community operations leads to arrest of robbers

A thorough operation was planned with the information supplied by residents and thereafter led to the identification, tracing and arrest of the suspects.

Eldorado Park SAPS members secured the arrest of four males aged fourteen(14),eighteen(18),nineteen (19) and twenty eight(28) for armed robbery on Thursday evening 28 January 2021.

The victim was allegedly responding to a request received along Viscount Street Extension one Eldorado Park. Upon arrival at the address, the suspects pointed firearms at him, forcefully embarked the vehicle and attempted to drive off.

The vehicle fortunately failed to start, however the suspects proceeded to search the vehicle and took the victims wallet containing cash, cards, Wi-Fi router and cellphone.

One of the suspects then ordered the other to shoot the victim, who immediately ran around the vehicle to take cover, and the suspects fled the scene.

A thorough operation was planned with the information supplied by residents and thereafter led to the identification, tracing and arrest of the suspects. All the items that were robbed from the car were recovered, except for the total amount of cash that was robbed.

The arrested suspects were detained at Eldorado Park SAPS for Armed Robbery and Possession of suspected stolen property. There is also a possibility for the same suspects being linked to other cases ,as investigations progress.

The fourteen(14)year old child offender was transferred to Walter Sisulu Child and Youth Care Centre for detention, and all the suspects are expected to appear before the Protea Court during the course of the week.

The Eldorado Park SAPS Station Commander Brigadier Van Dyk ,management and all members extend their gratitude to the residents who effortlessly assisted in providing positive information which led to the recovery of the robbed property and the arrest of the suspects.

Brigadier Van Dyk stated that “We could never have brought these offenders to justice without the assistance of the community members.” He concluded by saying “May this teamwork displayed by the Eldorado Park SAPS and community lead to greater future success in winning the fight against crime within the Greater Eldorado Park community “.

This should serve as a warning and indication to potential criminals that justice will always prevail.
