Ntando Sgudla(17) is gunning for the Miss Teen Universe South Africa title.

"You are never too young to take on the world" - Ntando Sgudla

Age is nothing but a number for 17-year-old Ntando Sgudla. The reigning Miss SA Teen Ambassador was the only 15-Years-old when she clinched the crown, the youngest winner of the prestigious honor.

“I would always watch the Miss South Africa’s and Miss Universe’s when I was younger, I’d dress up like them and walk around the house like a beauty queen, so I loved it and my mom would always me up!” she humorously recalled.

And so, in 2018, with no prior experience in pageantry besides a deep passion for it, her mother, Jabulile Sangweni signed her daughter up. To both their surprise, she made it to the finals, impressed with her intelligence, wits, and compassion, Ntando achieved what many believed she was too young for – winning the Miss SA Teen Ambassador crown at the green age of 15, and at her first time of asking.

“Here I was surrounded by all these incredible girls that had been doing this for years. Besides walking around the house in over-sized heels pretending to be Miss Universe, I had done nothing. But I was passionate about it and I had a genuine love for what I was doing.”

On her reign as Miss Teen Ambassador, Sgudla said the journey has been an education. “More than anything it has been a learning curve, I’ve grown more socially aware of everything happening within our society and, my responsibility to try and make a positive impact, and being a role model for young girls,” she said.

That would not be the last crown Ntando would do, she also took home the 1st Princess crown for Miss Teen Commonwealth South Africa 2020.

On her idols, Ntando identified her mother, Jabulile and, Zozibini Tunzi who has crowned Miss Universe in 2019.

Sgudla will find out her fate on the 27th of February 2021 where the Miss Teen Universe South Africa showdown will be held at the Coastlands Hotel in Durban. The winner will then jet off to Dubai to compete for the Miss Teen Universe title.
