Nhlanhla Tshabalala Foundation (NTF) helping children to get the best education

A deep passion for helping kids is the fuel that drives the Nhlanhla Tshabalala Foundation (NTF), this was according to its founder and Chairperson, Nhlanhla Tshabalala. Pimville local hero, Nhlanhla, and his foundation, the NTF have made impressive strides in an ongoing mission to .
What started as a kind gesture 4 years ago turned out to be a passion that would help thousands of kids, “Back in 2016, I wanted to do something nice for the kids at my former school. I donated about 18 uniforms,” he recalled.
Nelson Mandela said: ‘after climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb’. Tshabalala had a similar epiphany.

“After that donation, I had a conversation with a parent, and through that conversation, I realized that my donations would not be enough, yes they had nice shoes now, but in the bigger scheme of things, not much had changed. To actually help, would mean doing much more and that, and what we were going to do here was way bigger than me,” he continued.
Tshabalala then began the process of registering his foundation as a Non-Profit Organization. Although he admits, he may have been a bit naive at the start.
“I could say I was a bit naive,” he said of his start. I didn’t know the amount of detail and research that would go into it. But looking at it now, I’m proud of how far we’ve come.”
So far the foundation has a network of about 40 000 children that have been assisted, from school uniforms to stationery to matric dances, the NTF is done it all.
But where does the foundation get this firepower from, the key, Tshabalala said, was the community?
“The credit must go to the community, so many local businesses have stood up and lent a hand, so credit must go to them. In the last 4 years, we’ve had Nail That Beauty and Blackdot Properties who have shown us fantastic support over the years. But generally, we’ve had a lot of support from community members,” said Tshabalala.
Today, the foundation has set its sight on a new leadership program that seeks to groom the country’s next leaders, to parents, Tshabalala called for unity and a collective effort.
“To parents, we want to say thank you for the support so far, and we ask you to continue working with us to improve the lives of our children. It’s going to take all of us,” he concluded.
