Pimville Westham is raring to get the 2021 season underway

The Sowetan side sent a signal of intent with a 4 - 1 slapping of Romania on Friday.

Pimville Westham is determined to get back on track in 2021 following the disruption to the season by the Corona Virus outbreak.

The Sowetan side sent a signal of intent with a 4 – 1 slapping of Romania on Friday afternoon.

Karabo Sithole helped himself to a hattrick while Shane Phasoane then put the final nail on the coffin with a fourth. According to Team Captain, Pro Ndlovu this was the winning culture that his troops wanted to cultivate going forward.

“All the big teams have a certain culture. For us, we want to have a culture of winning and playing entertaining football, “he said.

Ndlovu though, admitted that for such results to be consistent. The team would require a boost of experience. The great thing about last season is that we worked with a lot of young players who showed great commitment and enthusiasm for the team.

The challenge we have is that we don’t have enough experienced players, and you need that bit of experience throughout a season if you are going to get these kinds of results consistently” said Ndlovu.

Westham was well on track to challenge for the title before the season came to an abrupt halt due to government-imposed regulations as part of South Africa’s Covid response strategy. Effectively all sports were canceled.

Ndlovu admitted that training in isolation was an unfamiliar experience. “It was a bit strange because you had to try and keep your fitness up but not knowing when you will be able to play again.

But overall I’m happy with the team and the 4 – 2 win shows that everyone put in the effort and stayed fit.” On hopes for 2021, Ndlovu said he believes that his team can get their title charge back on track. “I think the primary aim will be top 3, once we are there then there is no reason we can’t challenge for 1st place,” he said.
