Baragwanath hospital asking family members to identify deceased patients

Baragwanath Hospital has a list of patients from around Soweto who have passed away, the hospital is looking for their family members to help identify their bodies before they are buried as paupers.

Baragwanath Hospital is the biggest Hospital in the Southern Hemisphere and so it is no surprise that some patients pass away in the hospital with no family members coming forwards to claim their bodies.

The Spokesperson for Baragwanath Hospital, Nkosiyethu Mazibuko explained that some of these patients who passed away while in the hospital haven’t had any relatives or family members come forth to claim their dead bodies even though the hospital records are with some of their home addresses.

Mazibuko said, “It is sad to see one person die and get buried like a pauper, we have a list of people who need their families to help restore their dignities.”

A pauper is a person who lacks means and has their needs derived from charity specifically or one who receives aid from funds designated for the poor paupers on welfare.
Mazibuko explained that failure from family members going forth to claim the bodies of their loved ones would have to result in these unknown people being buried as paupers by the governing.

2. Antonio’s Bawe registered address 141, Freedom Park.
3. Lucas Steyn registered address 03 Block 00 Eldorado Park.
4. Nkosinathi Mmahuma registered address 1086 Lilian Road Kliptown.
5. Daniel Mohale registered address 5237 Lawley Ext 1.
6. Sky Palesa registered address 2869 Fine Town.
7. Victor Ngema registered address 27907 Eagle Owl street Protea Glen.
8. Frank Kenneth address unknown.
9. Hulsey Abrahm address unknown.
10. Black male address unknown.
