Councillors wish residents well

Councillors promise better service.

Meadowlands councillors wish residents a prosperous New Year, good health and growth.

At the start of a new year, people start planning to better their lives: be it getting a new job, saving, buying a house, a car and ditching old habits.

Councillor Sphiwe Mbongo of Ward 41 wishes all that residents have planned for the year and it goes well.

“It is always good for people to seek ways to better their lives.

“For the year, I want to work closer with the community,” he said.

Councillor Takalani Nefotini of Ward 42 also sends his best wishes to all the residents in the area, particualarly in his ward.

He said: “I am looking forward to working the community in ensuring that there are changes in their communities and that problems are solved amicably and peacefully.

“Being accountable to the community is important and I always want to improve on that.”

Nefotini said that to achieve anything, people need to work hard throughout the year and never give up on reaching their goals.

Councillor of Ward 45, Emmanuel Tseleli, hoped for a year for development and better service delivery.

He said the community should be more involved at public meetings and processes that require their input.

The councillors said they are willing to do their best to meet the needs of the people who elected them into office.

Unemployment, poverty, crime, drug and alcohol abuse, electricity, housing and road accidents are some of the problems in Meadowlands that political leaders hope will be curbed.
