Chantel Hoffman makes Top 50 in Mrs SA pageant

“I walk with an invisible crown every day” - Chantel Hoffman.

“I am coloured girl born and raised in Eldorado Park, went to the local public primary and secondary school. Society tells us every day that we are only entitled to a certain life, due to our background, due to our financial status, sometimes sadly even due to our race and gender. I entered Mrs. SA to prove to society that we will not be who you say we should be, we will be all that we were designed to be and more. We too belong on national stages, we too deserve a seat at any table, we are more than just a wife, we are more than just a mother, we are women,” said Chantel Hoffman, a contestant in the Top 50 in the Mrs. SA pageant.

Hoffman shared that the journey in this pageant has reminded her of who she is. She added that it has been empowering and rewarding for being able to be a voice and example for her community.

“I walk with an invisible crown every day, I will always be queen as I was designed by the Almighty Himself, so I do not want to win for a crown, the title to me will be the confirmation, that we can do anything and everything we set our minds to regardless of what stage in our lives we are, the title will show young girls in my life, in my community and in all walks of life, that we do not have to be chained, we are free, we are strong, and we are more. The title to me means: ‘breaking the chains.’

Hoffman’s sponsors for the pageant is ‘Beastish’ which is a female-owned body fitness company that trains women of all ages to take care of their bodies inside out, also focuses on fitness and self-defense. “I am also partnering with Mrs. SA raising funds for women4 women, the foundation is a non-profit organisation (NGO) focused on female empowerment and community upliftment: a programme to improve the lives of the less fortunate and previously disadvantaged women of South Africa,” added Hoffman.

The contestant shared that whether she wins or loses, she would like to change the mentality and level of confidence in young women in the community. Hoffman explained: “I would like to have more educational workshops, to educate young females on the endless opportunities there are, I would like to encourage married or single mothers that age is never a problem and that you can turn your life around at any given time, and I would also focus on more on the education of disabled children, as I am a mom of a beautiful down syndrome daughter,”

Hoffman indicated that the competition has shown me that nothing is more powerful than believing in who you are. “Thank you to my community Eldorado Park, for moulding me into a strong individual that is diverse, and not afraid to be the best version of myself, no matter where this journey of life takes me, my proudest routes will always be that I am from Eldorado Park, and I will forever hold our community flag in the highest regard, and will always come back home to uplift my own,” concluded Hoffman.
