War on crime can be won with your help – officer

You too can help police fight crime.

Residents who are relying on Moroka Police Station for safety and protection are encouraged to visit the station more often this festive season.

The station communication officer John Serala said the station’s doors are always open for public usage.

“We are open 24/7 at our station for resident’s participation in the fight against crime in all the areas that we are policing in.

“We expect and urges residents to come forward and report any criminal activities that they come across in their areas and we promise to work swiftly and extra hard in making sure that the reported crime is attended to and that the suspects are brought to order with no doubts.”

Serala said people must stop underestimating certain crimes they witness in their areas and report them.

“We are here as police to fight crime and to us; there is no measurement to crime whether it’s a big or small crime or serious or not serious crime.

“Crime is crime to us and we need to see people this festive season crowding our charge office and our reception to report different criminal activities that are affecting them daily.”

One of the patrollers at the station Mpho Moloi said: “I’ve never missed a single crime fighting campaign at the station and to know that I’m playing a part in keeping my area safe is a great feeling that I will treasure in my life.

“So I would wish other residents to also do the same, whenever they have spare time, they must just check in at the station just to find out what they can offer to make it the best.”
