Suspects wanted for robbery at Khomanani Primary School

Security guards were robbed and locked in the guard room but were later rescued by their CPF chairperson who had to pick them up.

Two security guards were allegedly conducting their premises patrols at Khomanani Primary School in Diepkloof, Zone 2 in the early hours of Thursday, October 15 when they were approached by two unknown males, one suspect allegedly pointed a firearm at them and pushed them into the guardroom.

According to a statement issued by Constable Roxanne Gibb, who is the communications officer on standby for SAPS Soweto East Cluster the two suspects tied up both the security guards with shoelaces, instructed them to remain where they were, robbed them of their cellphones, and locked them in the guardroom.

“According to the security guards, they heard grinding sounds and voices other than that of the two suspects. They further alleged that they were unable to see what was happening.”

Fortunately, the security guards were rescued at about 06h30 upon the arrival of their CPF Chairperson who had to pick them up.

” Upon investigation, it was discovered that the suspects had only targeted the administration block of the school. The trap door in the ceiling had been opened and the main gate and door to the administration block had been forced open with an object suspected to be a crowbar. There were also footprints on the walls and the zink of the roof had been tampered with,” Gibb said in the statement.

“The safe in the administration office was grinded open and ransacked. The items stolen included PPE’s, one laptop, an overhead projector, and a speaker. The estimated value of damages caused and stolen items are approximately One Hundred Thousand Rand,” Gibb added.

The suspects are unknown to the victims and the police are urging anyone with information relating to the incident to urgently contact our SAPS Crime Stop Hotline on 08600 10111. A case of Business Burglary is currently under investigation.
