Multi-talented local artist Man Q released a song of hope

His song Sonqoba, which means we will conquer in English is promising to be a hit as it is a song aimed at giving the nation.

Soweto’s very own multi-talented songwriter, composer, producer, and a DJ, Manqoba ‘Man Q’ Nkwanyana started his music career at a Sunday School and has now released his debut single.

Man Q describes himself as versatile.

“It all started at a church Sunday School and as I grew up, I couldn’t help but learn, there was more to it, especially when I started understanding music.

“I participated in a few competitions and won, from there my life has never been the same. I am versatile when performing I specialise in Afro Tech and Deep House,” he said.

“Most of the music I make is made from inspirations or a feeling that I find myself in at times, I don’t follow a genre, I produce exactly what and how I feel, the more music I drop the more people will learn that there will always be an element of freshness and uniqueness and I believe there is something more to it. My first single speaks loudly however, I do stick to a genre by request,” he added.

Man Q says that he takes challenges as lessons. His most memorable highlight takes us back to when he was 8-years-old and had won a digital wristwatch which he says they referred to as ‘panya panya’ which in English means blink.

“What may be seen by other artists as a challenge to me is a lesson, when challenged, I participate. It’s a real-life experience and it gives me joy because I learn a lot about myself, after all by God’s grace, I always overcome. However, it would be nice to get more airplay on the radio,” Man Q said.

His song Sonqoba, which means we will conquer in English is promising to be a hit as it is a song aimed at giving the nation hope especially during these tough times.

“2020 was indeed a tough year and we still not sure for how long we will still be experiencing the hard times that came with the pandemic, however, as a producer I felt the need to make the song and use platforms to encourage, entertain and motivate people at the same time celebrate our African-ness our true version of self and give people something to talk and laugh about and I believe that is how we heal as a nation,” says Man Q.

“My approach in making the song was like making a soundtrack for a movie, accept, this was based on reality. So’nqoba is a belief one or more have that they will overcome challenging times or moments in life, it’s a positive mindset and positive energy, it’s a personal project for me and it has nothing with me being a DJ” he concludes.
