Charles Hlongwani (6)  from Protea South got severely burnt by water and it has been difficult for his mother to take him to the hospital for treatment every month as it is expensive and she survives on a social grant.

When Silas Mabunda from Pimville Zone 1, founder of Silas Mabunda Children’s Foundation learned about the boy’s situation he decided to go and see the family.

He discovered that Hlongwani has only been to the hospital once due to financial constraints.

“When we got there, we learned that the boy only went to the hospital once and when they look for transport they are expected to pay R150 which is money they don’t have. They are not allowed to board the taxi due to the child’s condition,” said Mabunda.

The foundation had to step in and try to find a way to help the family in terms of getting young Hlongwani to the hospital for proper medical treatment.

Seeing the difficult situation that the mother is facing, Mabunda and Takiso Moremi took the matter to social media to try and source funds to help the family. They wanted help not only regarding medical treatment but for essentials the family needed in the house as well.

Indeed help did come as they received donations from Charlene from Denmark, Imbumba Foundation, and a lady by the name of sis Nono that really made a difference as they managed to buy food and save money to take the boy to the hospital for check-ups.

Mabunda said they really would love to see the little boy fully recovered and they are in a process of helping the mother of five find proper shelter as she is raising 5 children in a shack.
