Algerone Booysen not allowing circumstances to hold him back

'We all are born with greatness' - Algerone Booysen.

“Growing up in Eldorado Park wasn’t always easy for the fact that one is faced with negativity all around from friends, family, or the community itself. I needed change and I began to focus more on my studies along with networking with successful industry game-changers. I believe one has to stay positive and work very hard in achieving your dreams or goals. Do not let your circumstances hold you back from doing so for we all are born with greatness,” these are the words of Algerone Booysen, a young man from Eldorado Park.

Booysen’s shared that he and his late friend decided to start their own project. “I had to travel outside of Eldos to build the brand and make a name for it. I started promoting parties, I even launched one in London where I made a 50% profit.

“I have a network across the world so I am able to promote parties, I didn’t go to London but I had someone there to do the groundwork. I am also the founder of Deep End Productions. I attended Kliptown Secondary School and then went on to study at the Central Johannesburg College where I did programming languages which is on the software side.

“I write songs, produce music, I try to find up and coming artists, and I also organise events.

“When I was in high school, I use to look up to all the guys who were stealing cars and the drug dealers but then I realised that we are all born with greatness,” said Booysen.

The promoter added that he found that he is good at marketing after working for different companies and realised that he was just sitting and working for a boss where he could be working for himself and making money so he moved on from the companies.

“I did an online digital marketing course with Google, it was an opportunity that presented itself. I also did a course on public relations and communications through the Crime Prevention Youth Desk with South African Police Service (SAPS), and I also went on to doing project management,” added Booysen.

In concluding with his interview, Booysen had a message for the youth and that message was: “Crime does not pay and I believe that knowledge and education is power because it is something that no one can take away from you, it doesn’t matter what your circumstances are. I know that it can be hard but the main thing that the youth should focus on is finding their gifts and what you love and start investing in those things.”

“Instead of standing on corners, rather choose to read a book that is going to help you.

“Your image is important, so try to associate yourself with people who have a similar vision as you.

“I had friends who would laugh at my ideas and push it aside and then I decided to move away and mix with people who also want to move forward in life. The youth should never be afraid to explore and start networking because networking is important.”
