Two men found with stolen vehicles

The two men will appear in the Protea Magistrate's Court next week.

A 30-year-old man was arrested for being in possession of a stolen car in Protea Glen.

This happened while the members of the Flying Squad were patrolling the neighborhood and suddenly received a tracking signal of a stolen car. They traced the car to a house in Protea Glen ext 11.

The Communications Officer for Protea Glen Police Station, Sergeant Vincent Mashiteng narrated how it all happened. He said, “The Beige VW Polo was found parked in the yard and the 30-year-old suspect was busy searching it.”

Mashiteng further explained how the police inquired from the man why and where he got the stolen car and how come he was searching for a car that was not his while it was presumed stolen.”His failure to answer any of the questions led to his arrest for possession of a stolen car,” said Mashiteng.

Another 46-year-old man was arrested for being found with a stolen car in Protea Glen ext 31.

The man was found in a yard with two cars, a BMW and a Picanto by police who were patrolling the area.

When the cars were checked, the Red Picanto appeared to have been reported stolen this year June in Germiston.

The man was arrested on the spot for possession of a stolen vehicle.

The two men will appear in the Protea Magistrate’s Court next week.

It is imperative that car owners remember to avoid driving alone at night through dark routes without street lights.
