Showcasing a different narrative of Eldorado Park

Inspiring conversations with Siboniso Nomgenge.

Entrepreneur, young Philanthropist and founder of Nomgenge Duo (ND) clothing brand, Siboniso Nomgenge announces his first published book called: ‘Eldos Game Changers’ with the sub-titled ‘Inspiring conversations with quality people’.

The twenty-four-old shared that his aim for the book is to create a tangible tool which will change the often-negative perception of Eldorado Park and create a new narrative which will introduce Eldorado Park to the world by showcasing great people who have achieved some great things.

“I am from Eldorado Park ‘kersie dorp’ and my book is basically a motivational book that I have been writing for the past two years and I will be releasing it at the end of this month. It is published through Inspired Publishing by Darren August. I interviewed a few influential people from Eldorado Park to showcase Eldorado Park on a different narrative.”

“This book is also to inspire youngsters in Eldorado Park who feels like there is no hope because they come from Eldorado Park, so these influencers show us that we can also make it. Some of these people are ones that we see on TV, and many don’t even know that they walked the same streets that we are walking on every day.”

“I wrote this book based on my personal interests, I see people walking around visionless and I was also there so I looked at how can I change, how can I be a change? I saw some people also doing great things in the community and thought to myself, ‘how did they get to that level?’ and so many people also want to know how they made it but are scared to ask because they are ‘high profiled people’ so I created this platform for these people to share how they did it,” said Nomgenge.

The author plans on having a launch for his book with all the people he profiled as well as for residents who bought the book or are interested in it. When asked, what made him decide to change his mindset, Nomgenge explained: “I tend to be very strategic with my time, I was stuck in the negative side of things but I made a change in my life by accepting Christ and I am still becoming the person that I want to be. Day by Day I am trying to move away from the bad influences because it is visible in our community.

“So I asked myself how can I become the change when I’m following what everyone else is doing, so I changed and I am now building my own brand.” Nomgenge is hopeful that he will be able to have the launch of his book at the end of September but is excited that his first print run will be on August 29.
