Sandile ‘Cream’ Mtshazo took us through to his fashion world.

He describes himself as a trendsetter, ‘influencer’ and a creator, but the young fashionista from Protea North, Sandile ‘Cream’ Mtshazo says that, given an opportunity, he would be a great fashion designer, designing his own garments from scratch and taking his love for fashion to another level. “Capital is our biggest challenge, however, given an opportunity to become a fashion designer, I believe that with the necessary equipment we can accomplish a lot. I have already started designing a few exquisite pieces of garments. It would be a wonderful experience and a chance to learn something new,” he added.

This is how his career in fashion unfolded.
“I was introduced to fashion at an early age. So, we used to go for photoshoots every weekend with my brother at Braamfontein and Maboneng Precinct and we would meet up with some of the fashion creatives. I spent most of my time finding new fashion invasions, getting to know fashion & understanding it as a whole.

“During that time, we managed to meet up with some fashion designers who were already in the fashion industry and got exposed to different kinds of artists but I believe that my greatest influence was me myself and the crew I kept around me every single day.

“Having a trustworthy and positive team helped me maneuver around a lot of challenges and obstacles during my journey. I am grateful for my team,” he said.

His favourite trends are Raw Vintage, Streetwear (local branding), Chinese wear, Scottish wear as well as an international mixed culture.

Here are some of the few tips Mtshazo would like to share with fashion lovers.
“Firstly, I believe that fashion has advanced to a larger scale during the past years, so it’s easy for one to fumble. You need to have a good sense of style, at the same time being your authentic self in everything you do.

“Wear what you feel good in, love yourself as much as you love what you do, and don’t forget to keep up to date with new trends.

“Be confident, respect your craft and of course be alert, participate and attend different types of fashion-related exhibitions,” he said.

“I would like to see myself traveling all over the world meeting new people learning new experiences, exploring different kinds of garments from different designers. Host art exhibitions locally & internationally and collaborating with some of the greatest fashion designers and stylists,” he concludes.
