World Cup trophy returns to SA
Fans will have an opportunity to have their pictures taken with the trophy.
The FIFA World Cup trophy will return to South Africa for the first time in almost four years as part of a global tour presented by Coca-Cola.
This will be in the country from December 1 to 3 before going to its final destination in Brazil for the World Cup tournament next year.
South Africans will have a chance to see and be seen with the trophy at the Southgate Shopping Centre on December 2 and 3 from 11am to 7pm each day.
Fans will have an opportunity to have their pictures taken with the world trophy.
The tour will bring back special memories of the world finals which were held in South Africa in 2010.
That was the first time ever the World Cup has been staged on the African continent.
The 2010 World Cup provided South Africa with the ultimate football party and the country’s citizens came together in the spirit of nation building.
Through the tour, Coca-Cola officially welcomes South Africans to the 2014 World Cup.
The sight of the trophy will bring those memories and put a smile on the face of all South Africans, who will be delighted to see the prize back in the country.
The tour was developed through a partnership between FIFA and Coca-Cola.
The trophy tour began its journey in Rio de Janeiro on September 12.
It will travel to different parts of the world for nine months before returning to the country that will host the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
