Drug sniffers and ammunition discovered during a school raid in Diepkloof

A total of 5089 learners were successfully thoroughly searched for any illegal objects.

The school search that took place in Diepkloof left no stone un-turned and learners were found with illegal stuff like drug sniffers and ammunition.

A total of 5089 learners were successfully thoroughly searched for any illegal objects or substances and Rizlas and a bottle of vodka was found along with at least 6 stolen phones.

The Deputy Chairperson for the CPF in Diepkloof, Zenzile Tshabalala explained that things, like screwdrivers and multi-purpose knives, were confiscated from the learners including one live ammunition.

The school’s search saw the police along with the CPF Officers visit at least five schools in Diepkloof including Namedi High School and Madibane High School were at least 637 learners were successfully and peacefully frisked.

The Spokesperson for Diepkloof SAPS, Captain Phephi Matlou-Mteto explained that the school’s search was merely a way of curbing crimes in the school.

Matlou-Mteto said, “We would like to urge parents and guardians to be vigilant and pay their minds to their children’s activities, especially what they place inside their school bags because we have had to confiscate things that are not even supposed to be found with learners.”

These days learners walk around with boxes of matches in their pockets and school bags, 14 boxes were confiscated along with 36 pairs of scissors.

The search saw 1321 learners from Fidelitas Secondary School searched for illegal items and 790 learners in Diepdale Secondary School, both male and female learners.

Tshabalala said, “In order to ensure that schools are conducive environments and safe for parents to take their children, parents must work hand in hand with the schools and the police, we must know what are children get up to in school and what is in their school bags because we have confiscated some unspeakable items from learners.”
