Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo hosted their 30th annual Mother’s day concert

Yesterday, May 12, was mothers day, and in the spirit of celebrating the great mothers of Mzanzi, Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo hosted their 30th annual Mother’s Day concert at the Joburg Zoo from 11am to 3pm yesterday afternoon.

Concert goers were treated to performances by local artists, Mafikizolo, Good Luck and the Afro soul artist Msaki.

This mother’s day concert, remains a highlight for Joburg residents and aims to honour, embrace and appreciate the role played by mothers of this city and country.



Families paid tribute to their mothers, who many referred to as their ‘pillar of strength’. Entertainment areas were made available for children and families arrived with picnic baskets to enjoy an afternoon of music and fun in the sun.

The Joburg Zoo offered visitors an opportunity to see a range of animal species. Tours were made available in the morning for visitors to see the Big Five,  Siberian tiger cubs, an agile puma cub and many more.

Concert tickets were available at Web Tickets at R120 per adult and R70 for children , students and pensioners.
