Former footballers exposed to aspects of project management

The majority of these legends are currently active in their communities through football academies.

The Betway 12th Man programme continued to uplift the 10 ex-soccer legends selected and this time around they were exposed to an extensive Project Management module.

While the programme is only in its inaugural edition, they have acquired skills in Financial Management, Broadcast and Club Administration as part of their ongoing six-month journey with Betway.

The majority of these legends are currently active in their communities through football academies, clubs and foundations and the ongoing Project Management module will be a vital skill for the former footballers who are hoping to give back to their communities.

The session exposed the former footballers to crucial aspects of project management both on and off the field. One of the selected legends and former Moroka Swallows player, Steven Sekano said the project management module came just at the right time with his annual Football and Netball Easter tournament.

He said he has been running an annual tournament for the youth in Soweto for quite some time and he has always wanted to improve the standard every year. He said such knowledge will definitely come in handy and is looking forward to sharing it with his team for their upcoming tournaments in Soweto.

Other Betway legends that run tournaments include Maimane Phiri who spearheads the popular MAP Games in Alexandra as well as Edward Motale who runs football tournaments in Mamelodi. Former Bafana Bafana player, Lucas Radebe is the ambassador of the programme.
