18-year-old scoops over 10 awards + cash
'Oseke waba hemisa' - Mish Tshabalala.
The Director of the Johannesburg West District Education Department, Mish Tshabalala, exclaimed in disbelief, “Oseke waba hemisa,” when the Dobsonville youngster continued taking award after award during a ceremony held at Roodepoort Hoerskool last Friday.
The event was attended by all top performing schools and DoE representatives from Joburg West. The ceremony was aimed at recognising top-performing matric learners in 2018 and schools in the district.
Tiisetso Molata (18) a former Grade 12 learner form PJ Simelane Secondary School in Dobsonville brought his A-game on the day. As he went on to collect the awards, the audience burst into laughter as he kept on climbing up-and-down the stage to accept his award.

Few days before the award ceremony, Molata was crowned the second top performing learner in the province and number one top-performing learner in the township schools category in the province.
He got the same reception at the Roodepoort awards leaving fellow competitors stunned on the day. Molata is proof that indeed hard work does pay as he scooped over 10 awards at the event.
He won accolades such as the 2018 Nduna Morobela Memorial Award, 2018 DR Judy Dlamini Award, 2018 Dorljota Award and 2018 Kupani Award. He also received an award in mathematics and the grand prize of them all, Dux Award of Johannesburg West District 2018.

He also walked home with a R1 000 cheque presented to him by Dorljota Taxi Association, a cheque from Old Mutual and two laptops for his triumph on the day. Molota received a standing ovation in the main hall from the people who attended the event when he took home Dux award.
“I would like to thank my family, teachers from my former school for their support. They played a vital role in helping me with my studies,” said Molata.
The youngster will be enrolling at Pretoria University studying towards a degree in Electrical Engineering this year.
