Education department to assist parents with the placement of learners until Jan 18
Update on placements on learner admissions.
The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) wishes to urge parents to note that placements offered will be forfeited on Friday, January 18 – 2019 at 12:00 mid-day, and as such all parents that were offered space must visit their schools to urgently finalise the process.
A total of 282 823 early applications during the Admissions Application Period (April 16, 2018 to May 28, 2018) and 37 826 late applications (November 28, 2018 to date) for the 2019 academic year.
This translates to a total 320 649 applications (Grade 1: 172 205 and Grade 8: 148 444); and reflects an increase of 11 894 applications when compared to the total of 308 755 applicants received by the fourth Day of the 2018 Academic Year.

It is important to note, that, the department has complied with the obligation of ensuring that every child in Gauteng has been offered a space for learning. Parents are encouraged to send children to schools which allocated them space accordingly.
Help Desks at Head Office and District Offices are available to assist parents on weekdays from 08:00 to 16:00 as from Monday, January 7 2018, to Friday, January 18 – 2019.
