Meadowlands CPF honour two fallen patrollers for their dedication and commitment

It is difficult to come to terms with their passing as it is not easy to replace someone who was dedicated to his work and volunteered to serve his or her community without expecting anything in return.

Death is never an easy thing to accept in our communities or families and when our soldiers have fallen, it is difficult to come to terms with their passing as it is not easy to replace someone who was dedicated to his work and volunteered to serve his or her community without expecting anything in return.

Raymond Nxumalo and Mathapelo Lebelwane were dedicated patrollers for years and many within the fraternity agree that since they joined the Community Policing Forum (CPF), they showed a spirit of commitment and a willingness to protect their communities while working hand in hand with police to eradicate crime.

Their memorial services were held in different places; Lebelwane’s memorial was held at Kelokitse High School and Nxumalo’s service took place at the Anglican Church Mzimhlophe.

The Meadowlands CPF chairperson, Bafana Zwane said he knew Nxumalo for years and he showed himself to be a humble and disciplined man. Their friends and families described them as people who were down to earth who really loved what they were doing for their communities.

The Meadowlands Community Policing Forum honoured two of their own who they will remember for their dedication and commitment to fighting crime in the area.

They were active members within their sectors and Nxumalo has been patrolling for more than 20 years. He was considered a stalwart in Meadowlands and was also an executive member for Sector Three and a disciplined ANC member who always initiated meetings between the police and the hostel induna.

After a period of illness and hospitalisation, Nxumalo was back on his feet, continuing to work until the end.
Captain Lufhugu rose and gave words of encouragement and comfort to the friends and family of Lebelwane and lauded her for always being punctual.

The mourners were unanimous in their observation that Lebelwane and Nxumalo worked well with their sector managers and executives and that their deaths was a blow to the Meadowlands CPF where they served with a distinction which is rarely seen these days.
